Irish Bracken Ferns are pressed into stoneware clay. This piece has been fired twice up to 1270 degrees.
Although Bracken can sometimes be seen as a nuisance it is very valuable to the natural world by providing shelter for plants, fungi, birds, moths and butterflies to name but a few. Folklore says that in Ireland Bracken was widely believed that gathering its seeds on St John’s Eve would make the person carrying it invisible! The piece is food safe and can also be enjoyed as a piece of wall art when not in use.
Although the piece is dishwasher safe, I recommend washing by hand.
